Well, unfortunately luck rarely has anything to do with success. The reality is that success is the sum total of your daily habits, actions, and people with whom you surround yourself. If you want more out of life you have to be willing to make some changes. But where to begin?
1. Take a personal inventory – what is working for you right now? Stop and give yourself credit for the efforts you demonstrated to achieve this. What isn’t working? What small changes could you make to eliminate the things that are holding you back? If it’s a toxic relationship, do you need to distance yourself? Is it laziness in your exercise routine? Too much screen time?
2. Take baby steps – Small daily disciplines can be the foundation to large long-term goal attainment. Cant find time to make it to the gym? Start by taking a 15 minute walk each morning or after work. Find yourself surfing social media for too long in the evenings? Set your phone with a daily alarm to turn off electronics by 8pm. These keystone habits will be the kickstart you need to creating routines that become your new lifestyle.
3. Make time to think – Often we have no mental bandwidth and this leads to feeling burned out or just going through the motions. Take time each day to think about what you are grateful for, where you can improve, what you did well today, and what you can do tomorrow to stay on the trajectory of living your best life.
As the old saying goes, “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” Make today the catalyst for living your best life.
